The church was established in 1811 "by request of brethern and sisters in Waterford and St. Johnsbury." The members refered to themselves as The Baptist Church of Christ in Waterford and St. Johnsbury until the mid-nineteenth century when the name was changed to the Baptist Church of Passumpsic. In 1894 the church was incorporated as The Calvanistic Baptist Society of Passumpsic. Then in 1961, the church officially changed its name to The Passumpsic Community Baptist Church.
