The Kristin E. Payne Papers is comprised of numerous self-published works including poems, short stories, novels, and poem collections. It also includes unpublished notes and drafts, poems and stories, and non-fiction works, notably personal statements and essays written in pursuit of her Masters degree.

Biographical / Historical
Kristen Payne was born on September 15, 1964. She attended the University of Vermont, receiving an undergraduate degree in English in 1987, and later went on to receive a masters degree in Writing and Poetics from Naropa Institute in Boulder, Colorado, graduating in 1994. She was a member of the Peace Corps working in Central Africa. Payne produced and self-published many works and wrote using aliases. She published under the names Keirsten/Kristin/Kristen Payne, Kree Westbrook, Kristen/Kristin/Keirsten Payne Hardiman and Kristen/Keirsten/Kristen Payne Eddy. She died in 1997 at the age of 33.
