The Len Solo Teacher Dropout Center Papers is comprised primarily of information Solo solicited and collected regarding alternative grade schools in the United States (and some non-U.S. schools) during the 1970s. The Research series consists of articles and publications on related topics as well as correspondence from teachers. Various lectures and interviews comprise the Media series.

Biographical / Historical
Dr. Len Solo was the co-founder of the Teacher Dropout Center (TDOC) at the University of Massachusetts in 1969. The TDOC was a major clearinghouse for the network of alternative schools during the 1960s and 1970s, and linked young teachers with hiring schools across the United States. After his time at UMass, Dr. Solo went on to work at the Graham and Parks alternative public school in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Abstract
Collection contains correspondence, printed matter, and completed questionnaires from and about alternative schools, as well as video and audio recordings of interviews, newsletters, directories, articles, and other materials about alternative education, educators, and institutions.
