Scope and Content Note

Collection of family and personal materials from the late 18th, 19th, and early 20th centuries. The collection contains correspondence, deeds, and genealogical information. Personal materials include poems, newspaper clippings, schoolwork and report cards, and drawings. Also includes sermons and information about membership in various organizations. The correspondence is primarily to and/or from Mary Ladd and Helen Wilcox, to various family members and several friends.

Biographical Note

Family based in Vermont. Materials primarily from Wilcox, Tucker, and Ladd families. Collection is primarily centered around Helen Wilcox (b.12 March 1843) and her daughter, Mary Ladd. Helen Wilcox was the daughter of Cephas Washburn and Mary Tucker Washburn. Mary Tucker was a descendant of Henry Herrick (b.1604). Genealogical information for Herrick/Tucker family is included in the collection. Helen Wilcox was married to Stephen Wilcox, son of Erastus Wilcox. Mary Ladd was married to Fred D. Ladd, a director of People's National Bank in Barre, VT and they had two daughters, Freda and Evelyn.
