Barlow Insurance Surveys
Barlow's Insurance Surveys were published between circa 1870-1896. The site-specific surveys of industrial properties include a page of text and an isometric view and plan. The surveys describe buildings, special features, and available fire protection. They include notes about the business owners and the goods produced. Updated surveys were produced as the business activities and facilities changed.
Collamer Abbott Collection
The Abbott Collection is composed of papers, maps, and photographs on mining and minerals, particularly in Vermont and the Eastern United States.
Emporium Lumber Company Records
Correspondence between the company office in Danby, Vt., New York headquarters at Conifer, and general headquarters in Pennsylvania; deeds relating chiefly to the Griffith lands in Bennington and Rutland Counties, Vt.; survey reports and maps relating to specific land parcels in Danby, Mount Tabor, Peru, Stratton, and Sunderland, Vt.; and material (1928-1967) relating to purchase of the company’s Vermont lands by the U.S. Forest Service for the Green Mountain National Park.

James Marsh Read Papers
James Marsh Read (1833-1865), an 1853 graduate of the University of Vermont, was an explorer of the American West and a Civil War soldier. He wrote critical essays about the events of the time and kept extensive correspondence with his family. These materials are combined with the collected research and manuscript of the collection’s donor, Gretchen Howe Miller, providing insight into James M. Read’s life and the issues of this period in American and Vermont history.
