Includes histories and by-laws, treasurers' reports, correspondence, check statement books, membership lists, newsletters, and fair consignors' lists. Contains information about the Guild's relationship to the Vermont Society of Craftsmen and its' role in hosting the annual arts and crafts fair. Some of the newsletters and histories contain background information on the state society and the Fletcher Farm School. Correspondence, financial records, and consignors' lists provide an overview of what was exhibited at the annual fair. The materials are arranged alphabetically.

Background Note

The Passumpsic Valley Craft Guild was part of the Vermont Society of Craftsmen, which was founded in 1938 and incorporated in 1947. The dues collected from Guild members contributed to membership in this parent organization and supported the work of the Fletcher Farm School in Ludlow, Vermont. The Fletcher Farm School was a summer program that provided education in a variety of crafts. The Passumpsic Guild was founded circa 1953. The Guild was the sponsor of an annual state-wide Arts and Crafts Fair in St. Johnsbury at the state armory. Consignors at the fair paid a commission to the Society. The regional organization appears to have been subsumed into the Vermont Society of Craftsmen in the 1970's. Until then, the group held their regular meetings in the basement of the Fairbanks Museum and Planetarium.
