The collection consists of several diaries containing short entries regarding daily activities. Diaries are arranged alphabetically by author then chronologically.

Biographical / Historical
The diaries represent Simon and Addie Parker, a married couple, and Ella Parker, who was Addie's sister.
Simon Parker (1838-1910) was the son of Simon Parker (Sr.) (1808-1876) and Ruth P. Macomber (1801-1846). He worked as a farmer in several Washington County, Vermont towns including Woodbury, Calais, and East Montpelier. He was married twice: to Mary Ann Slayton (1836-1873) in 1868 and to Abba Adeline Sloan, nicknamed "Ada" and "Addie," (1858-1954) in 1877. Addie was born in Calais to Lyman Aruna Sloan (1821-1877) and Lucy Ann Lindsay (1829-1921). She had several siblings including a sister named Ella.
Ella C. Viola Sloan (1867-1958) was born in Calais, Vermont. She married twice: first William I. Rickard (1868-1926) in 1889 and next Frank J. Parker (1858-1948, son of John Cortland Parker and Olivia Wheeler Parker) in 1927 (his third marriage). Both men worked as farmers. Ella and William adopted niece Addie Luna Sprague (1907-1985) who married Shubal Ralph Fair (1894-1982) in 1924.
