Biographical / Historical
Olin H. Smith (1835-1919) was the son of Harris and Adaline Smith. He was born in Sheffield, Vermont and later lived in the nearby town of Burke or East Burke. He worked there as a merchant and farmer before moving to Springfield, Massachusetts at some point time between 1860 and 1870. He married Violetta Humphrey on September 16, 1862 and they had four children: Rosa, Susan Eva or Eva Susan, Edward, and Winnifred.
